Jeff is a born and raised Poway local. He started his grappling experience as a wrestler on the famous Poway Titan Team under Wayne Branstetter.
In 2008, after a rare boxing injury, Jeff lost his eyesight. Looking to keep up with his passion for combat sports and athletics, he found Judo as a way to continue his training without the need for eyesight. He quickly found his way on to the U.S.A. Paralympic Team by taking Silver at the USA Judo Presidents Cup in 2014. The following year he competed in the 2015 IBSA World Cup and IBSA World Games.
Finding such success in Judo, Jeff also began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Judo and Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, Paulo Fernando. Again, the ability to use grips and technique lead to quick success for Jeff, this time competing against able sighted people. He is an active competitor with multiple wins on the regional and national circuit including 3 SJJF World Champion Gold medals.
